Virgil & Carol Stinson, Owners
Virgil and Carol Stinson began their business with staff from the old David's Pharmacy. Nancy Pickett and Phyllis Johnson came with them to the new location at Parklane from the very first day and have worked together for 25 and 24 years respectively. They have always been an integral part of their success. Both are now Certified Pharmacy Technicians. They are mothers, grandmothers and still remain dedicated to their work at the pharmacy.
The pharmacy was originally the David's East Pharmacy and was part of the David's discount store at Greenwich and Kellogg Roads. After that location, the Stinsons relocated to what is now the Salvation Army Biddy Basketball Center. By 1989, Alco went out of business at the Parklane location while the Stinsons were searching for a stand-a-lone location. They found the perfect spot in the Enterprise VII building at 1530 S. Oliver and Suite #141 has been their home for nearly 20 years.
Virgil, the owner and pharmacist in charge, is a life-long Wichitan. He attended Wichita North High, Wichita State University, and then University of Wyoming for his pharmacy degree. After graduation, he returned with wife Carol to Wichita for his first job at P-K Pharmacy. P-K was just around the corner of Harry & Oliver. In 1979, Virgil assumed the manager position at David's Pharmacy and the rest is history.
Over the years Virgil has served as President of the South Central Pharmaceutical Association, President of the Wichita Academy of Pharmacist, and the Sedgwick County Medical Round Table.
The move to the Parklane area has been a good one. When they began their business there were over 50 independent pharmacies in Wichita, today there are 18. However, nationwide independents are making a comeback. The consuming public recognizes that pharmacies like the Stinsons are very competitive in pricing and provide a high level of personal care and service. They are very proud of the fact that they are on a first name basis with 90% of their customers. Virgil, Carol, Phyllis, and Nancy invite you to stop by and say hello or give them a call at 685-2269. As a proud part of the Parklane Shopping Center, the Stinsons are looking forward to serving your prescription needs.
